SS JEREMIAH O’BRIEN seeks volunteers in its Gunnery Department to aid in restoring its ordnance. Become part of this piece of living, still sailing, history. The vessel participated in the 1944 Normandy invasion and 50 years later returned to those French shores. VETERANS OF UNDERAGE MILITARY SERVICE (VUMS) seeking veterans who joined the military, legally too young to do so. VUMS, incorporated in 1991, has enjoyed strong growth. Members receive six newsletters annually and are invited to an annual reunion. All branches of the military have assured us in writing that no one will be prosecuted for falsifying his age. Some members enlisted as young as 12-13 years of age, and one was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor one week after his 17th birthday. Our book, “America’s Youngest Warriors” (660 pp.), published in 1997, contains 200 short stories of our exploits. Prominent movie and music personalities, former flag officers from all services, state governors, U.S. senators and high-level government officials are among our current members.
