For the mini-museum, Donald Dillon of Cedar Rapids, IA, sent us a 1940 U.S. Navy edition of The Blue Jackets Manual that had once belonged to Lt. (jg) Ben Douglas D.V. 2, Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Mr. Dillon received the manual from a neighbor and he often wonders if Lt. Douglas survived WWII.
WWII and Korean War veteran Robert Steiner of Polk City, FL, sent us some memorabilia from his time in both wars. They include a map showing the Operations of the 100 Infantry Division in the European Theater of Operations, dated 1 November 1944 through 11 May 1945, several photos from Korea, some U.S. military surrender leaflets written in Chinese from the Korean War and numerous other items that are too many to list.
For our library Jim Phillabaum of Trenton, OH, sent us three books on the M-1 Garand rifle from WWII.
Also from Bennie R. McDonald of Flowery Branch, GA, Volume 1, 2nd edition, A Concise History of U.S. Army Special Forces with Lineage and Insignia.

I am thoroughly disgusted with what we have to choose from as far as selecting the next president of the free world. Is this the best that we can come up with? Why is it we choose Miss America from 52 candidates while we select a president from a handful of professional politicians? What has happened to all the honorable men of this country? Apparently, greed has replaced honor and everyone is only out for themselves and to hell with the country and everyone else.
One reason I am so incensed about this is because I am the great-great-great nephew of General Robert E. Lee, whose father, Henry “Light Horse Harry” Lee III, was a signer of the Declaration of Independence. The (George) Washington and Lee families shared a very close relationship with Robert marrying George Washington’s great-granddaughter, therefore linking me to the first President of the newly formed United States of America. These men risked their life for freedom to escape tyranny and oppression of the British Empire and establish a system of government that lets men be free to pursue their dreams and aspirations.
Here we are, 233 years later, with the Marxist Democrat Party doing everything within its power to destroy this free country and oppress us with their communist cradle-to-grave care. Our younger generations today are taught to believe that the government owes them something and they have a sense of entitlement, however, this likely excludes those honorable men and women fighting the war on terrorism. They feel as though they owe society nothing and that everything should be about them, rather than becoming responsible citizens and taking care of their own needs while actually contributing something to society.
Now that Romney has bowed out of the GOP race, leaving McCain as the likely Republican nominee, it appears as though the Democrat’s plan of divide-and-conquer is working. Many voters don’t like or trust McCain and will simply choose to sit out this election, thereby handing certain victory to the Democrats. With the Democrats in control of both Houses and the Presidency, with either an inexperienced Hillary or Obama, it is likely to be the deathblow to our once sovereign and free nation.
The DNC and their ever-obedient, liberally-biased media are touting their “Dream Ticket” as being Hillary and Obama as President and VP — that’s no dream, it would be more like the worst nightmare I could ever imagine!
I know I sound like a pessimist, but I see the writing on the wall. It is only a matter of time until the leftists destroy our nation and turn us into a socialist country like many in Europe. May God help us all!
